Ten Years In. Here’s what I know about events.

Author: Lisa James Founder and CEO, The Wentworth Collective

Why moments that matter are worth celebrating and investing in.

Somewhere in your organisation, there’s a moment coming up: A leadership gathering, a strategy reset, a milestone worth pausing for, the kind of moment that brings people together and sets the tone for what comes next.

The Wentworth Collective has just turned ten. It’s something I’m incredibly proud of – a milestone moment for sure. But, this isn’t really a post about an anniversary. It’s a reflection on what I’ve seen, time and again, when people come together with intention.

Watch: Ten Years of The Wentworth Collective

This short film captures the heartbeat of the last decade, the people, the places and the moments that have shaped our journey.

What thirty years of corporate events have taught me

After 30 years in events, and a decade running TWC, a lot has changed: how we work, how we communicate, how we gather. But one thing has stayed beautifully consistent. When people feel genuinely connected, they leave feeling part of something, not just present for it.

You see it in the conversations that run over. The energy that lingers. The way people show up differently afterwards. And that’s what’s excited me most over the last ten years. It’s not about just delivering events. It’s designing moments that people carry with them.

Why this matters right now

We live in a world of speed, technology and constant noise. And yet, the most powerful moments I see still happen when people are in a room together. And we’re becoming more intentional about the need to do that:

Face-to-face experiences, done well, create something special:
A shared energy.
A sense of belonging.
What I often describe as collective effervescence.

It’s human. And it’s incredibly powerful.

What ten years OF THE WENTWORTH COLLECTIVE really represents

As I reflect on the last ten years, I’m celebrating ten years of championing moments that moved people.

From celebrations to global conferences, VIP incentives and brand launches, we’ve kept our north star clear: connection.
True human connection: To ourselves. To our organisations. To each other. When that’s present, everything else follows.

So here’s to taking a moment and raising a tea, coffee or biscuit to:

Ten years of saying yes to creativity.
Ten years of saying yes to brave ideas.
Ten years of designing experiences that feel different.
Ten years of designing experiences that are more memorable
Ten years of working with leaders who understand that bringing people together is one of the most optimistic things you can do for your business.
And to the next ten years of creating moments that matter.

Because when you create the right conditions, people don’t just show up.
They connect. They engage. They move forward together.

It’s an alchemy I’m proud to be a part of.
