Changing perspectives at The Tate Modern

Why: 2-day Leadership Conference

location: Tate Modern, London

industry: Insurance

The challenge
Vitality wanted to bring 150 senior leaders together. The ask? Balance strategy with inspiration. Create connection. Spark fresh thinking.

Our answer
We built the entire experience around one powerful theme: Changing Perspectives. A photography-inspired leadership experience at The Tate Modern that asked leaders to see differently, and lead differently.

The experience
We took over the gallery for two days. Behind-the-scenes access to iconic exhibitions. TED-style talks. A photography masterclass with National Gallery artist John Cartwright, whose lessons became metaphors for leadership:

- Get close to the action
- Trust your instincts
- Embrace imperfection

The final challenge? A photography competition.

Our leaders' images were printed on vinyl and transformed into a walk-through gallery and table plan in the heart of The Tate Modern.

A powerful celebration of leadership, culture and bold ideas

What we did

Images

An iconic venue reimagined

The Tate Modern became our canvas for this event. We reimagined the venue over and over for different parts of the conference.

- Jazz and cocktails on the rooftop.
- A private viewing of Elton John’s photography collection; Radical Eye.
- TED style talks.
- A portrait workshop using photography as a metaphor for leadership with National Gallery artist John Cartwright.
- And finally, a photography exhibition created by the leaders themselves portraits hung as a leadership exhibition

Securing this sort of access wasn't always easy.

We negotiated exclusive access, joined as gallery members, and pushed for permission to showcase guests' own work - a first for corporate events at The Tate Modern.

Seamless design from start to finish

We understand that smooth and easy transitions between activities are vital to ensure the smooth running of your event. Especially when running events for busy leadership teams.

With this in mind, we designed an agenda that ensured every detail was frictionless and intentional, making the most of every possible moment.

- Transfers by boat between the hotel and venue. No traffic. No waiting.
- A well thought agenda. TED-style talks in the morning.
Practical workshops in the afternoons.
- Luggage was transferred behind the scenes and waiting at departure to ensure a smooth exit at the end of the event.

One golden thread

A powerful theme is the golden thread that can tie your event together.

From first invitation to final farewell, "Changing Perspectives" through the lens of photography was the glue for this leadership conference.

- We started with VIP access to the Elton John exhibit, The Radical Eye.
- We gave attendees different perspectives of a single venue and city: photography exhibitions, jazz on the rooftop with a London skyline, riverboat transfers.
- Room keys, schedules, and event details arrived in photography wallets.
- Attendees found photographs and photographer tips in their hotel rooms head of their workshop.
- Leadership workshops with National portait Photographer John Cartwright exploring lens and legacy.
- A final exhibit created by the attendees themselves, packed with personal meaning, that our attendees would remember forever.

The Impact

Leaders left seeing their role and their influence with new eyes.

"Changing Perspectives" became a mindset. A moment to step back, zoom in, and focus on what really matters:

  • Who they are

  • How they lead

  • And the legacy they’re shaping
